Brian was a veterinarian for horses who died at the age of three. Bea was three years old though she was not told how he died until she turned 13. She chose the stage name Bea in honor of her late father. Bea also wrote an article published in The Guardian on her family's suicide experience. Bea as well as her older sister Sinead and her sister Sinead, were brought up with Helen Moloney (n e Moloney) who was a jockey as well as a teacher at a secondary school. The family was passionate about horses and races. Bea started out her career as a tour guide at the Irish National Stud. However Bea realized at an early age that the racing industry was not for her.
